News in Focus:NTT Com Launches Japanese-Chinese SNS with Translator

August 8, 2008 - NTT Com today launched a public social networking service (SNS) with a mutual Japanese-Chinese translating function, timed with the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The SNS, named “talk feel" (www.talkfeel.com), supports communication between Japanese and Chinese. The translating function makes communication possible even between those who only speak their own languages.
The “talk feel" website features a forum where users can post short comments, rather than long sentences like in blogs. This creates new chances for Japanese and Chinese users to communicate in meaningful ways.
For seven years, NTT Com has been promoting Japan- China exchange with Cafe China, a bilingual web portal offering news feeds. Among Websites in NTT DOCOMO's mobile internet portal i-menu site, the Cafe China website is ranked at third in its “international" category. Mail tsu, a short message service (SMS) with a Japanese-to-Chinese translation function for exchanging text messages via mobile phone, has been a huge hit since 2002. Mail tsu can also be sent by PCs in Japan to mobile phones in China. NTT Com will also consider expanding languages to include English and Korean.
